James Milner has two years remaining on his contract

Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill has confirmed James Milner wants to join Manchester City.

City saw a £20 million bid for Milner, 24, rejected earlier this summer, and Roberto Mancini has spoken recently of the fact he feels Villa’s asking price for the midfielder is too high.

However, O’Neill has now said the player has expressed a desire to move to Eastlands and admitted he would be sold if the clubs can agree a fee.

Milner has two years remaining on his contract but is reported to have refused to discuss an extension. Villa are now said to be asking £30 million for the player.
