CARLO Ancelotti last night admitted that he fears Chelsea’s Premier League crown could be taken… by Manchester City.
Ancelotti suggested that bookies, who make Mancini one of the favourites to be the first manager to be axed this season, may have seriously underestimated the City boss, who won three Serie A titles and four Coppa Cup finals with Inter Milan.
“Manchester City could be very difficult opponents,” Ancelotti warned. “It’s very difficult to build a team in one summer but Mancini has the experience to do this, so it can be done. He has bought some fantastic players.”
And just a week before the opening Community Shield clash with Manchester United, he will have left Sir Alex Ferguson seething by hinting that City, not United, are now thetrue contenders for their title.
“We want to win the Premier League again, but it will be more open this year because Man City have had a fantastic summer in the transfer market,” he added.
Ancelotti, who locked managerial horns with Mancini in Italy when he coached rival Milan giants AC, believes City, who will bring their summer spending to a massive £100million if they get Balotelli, are now the team to be most feared in England.
