Arsenal Launch £23m Bid For Liverpool Goalkeeper Pepe Reina – Report

Arsenal are preparing an audacious £23 million bid for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

According to The Sun, Arsene Wenger switched his target from Mark Schwarzer to the 27-year-old, who has only recently signed a six-year deal in April.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has reiterated that he does not wish to sell any of his key players this summer, which could be a large stumbling block for any potential transfer.

Wenger has been actively seeking a first-choice goalkeeper this summer as Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski have both been prone to error last season.

Reina was purchased from Villarreal five years ago for £6 million. He missed Thursday’s Europa League win over Rabotnicki, after only returning to training on Monday, following his World Cup success.
